AI connections

All AI Developer apps use your own AI access, so usage is billed by your provider and you stay in control of keys and cloud accounts. You configure the connection in the Jira project settings of the app, next to the repository. The credentials are stored as secrets and are masked in the UI afterwards.

In Spec Driven Development you first choose the AI Provider (Claude or Codex) and then the connection method. The Claude Code and Codex apps have the provider built in.

Connection methods

Create a Claude API key or a OpenAI API key and paste it into the LLM API Key field. Select Claude on Anthropic or Codex on OpenAI as the connection.

Models

Leave the model on its default or pick one in the settings. The default is Claude Sonnet for Claude and the latest GPT model for Codex. Available models change over time, so the settings page always shows the current list. If you use Bedrock or Foundry, choose a model you actually provisioned.

Changing the AI provider in Spec Driven Development clears the stored token, so enter the credentials for the new provider.
